Butterfly is observed by highlighting those areas of the Mandelbrot Set where the magnitude (size) of the iterand decreases over 3 successive iterations. Since my conversations with Professor Mandelbrot and publication in Amygdala, back in 1987, I have had the opportunity to do much exploring of this amazing figure.
